- GM Stan Bowman makes his second trade; another fairly minor deal sending versatile blueliner to the Flames for minor league scoring winger Kyle Greentree. (Between The Circles)
*My take is, player wise, the Flames got the best of this one. The Flames gave Greentree every opportunity to make the team throughout training camp and he just couldn’t seem to take his game to the next level. Nice to see him get a fresh start in the Hawks organization. With some of the injuries the Hawks have up front and given the fact they were going to dress Johnson and even Jordan Henry as forwards, Greentree provides some depth and might actually help out right away. The versatile Johnson is nice pick up for Flames. He was plus 19 in just 38 games last season. This trade was more about the dollars though, as Johnson had a one-way deal and is a free agent after this season. From this standpoint, the Hawks likely accomplished what they set out to do.
